A couple of weeks back Liftstream wrote about the very considerable challenges facing the Merck Serono employees in Geneva as they move towards a full site-closure. Well, this past week, Liftstream has been in another country, Sweden, reacting to the AstraZeneca site closure in Södertalje. AstraZeneca had organised a career fair on September 12th and 13th 2012, for the employees at the site, so they could access a range of different employers and contacts who would help them plan their futures.
Liftstream was invited, as one of only a few International companies, to attend the event and offer its expertise to the employee base. Our particular knowledge of recruiting in multiple functions within the European life sciences sector, enabled us to provide very particular advice about the recruitment and career opportunities that exist for this talented pool of people, both locally in Sweden but in the other main European clusters too.
With such a wide range of functions represented at the career fair, Liftstream was truly excited to participate in such a well organised event. In such circumstances, individuals are often looking to access information that will help them make decisions about their next career move and to assist them with their career search plan. Liftstream was able to bring this insight and market intelligence, alongside pragmatic career advice to help those people who approached us.
Facing up to the changes a situation like this imposes upon you can be tough for all. However, as you begin your voyage of discovery and you uncover information that helps you plan and make decisions, you can very quickly begin to view this as an opportunity. Liftstream was hopefully able to make some small contribution to this process and we certainly aim to give as much on-going support as we possibly can to the people affected by this situation.
Liftstream certainly left this career fair with some excellent contacts, but more importantly we were highly impressed with the professionalism and quality of skills and experience being presented. We were pleased to take part and we truly hope that these talented professionals can continue to make a positive and transformational contribution to our life science industries.
